Imagine broken pieces of glass—different colors, different shapes and sizes, some shattered to powder. What comes to mind? Trash? Useless? After all, they are broken!
The women at River of Life Christian Church in Winsted realize that when we look at what God’s Word has to say, there is more to the story.
On a recent Saturday in July, amazing ladies from River of Life Christian Church served amazing ladies from Love INC Heartland (neighbors in need) at their Amazing Ladies Spa Day. The event began with food, ended with food, and had food to take home. Many hands shared in the making and serving of delicious food to all who attended.
After a physically nourishing start, keynote speaker Linda Reinert encouraged all to realize God loves each one of us. Linda is a mosaic artist and uses the ingredients of a mosaic—broken and shattered, yet beautiful—to remind women that they, too, may feel broken and shattered, yet God sees them as beautiful. She shared from God’s Word and through personal stories how God remains the same and supportive toward each of us.
Activities available for the ladies included card making, nail care, personal prayer time, creating a mosaic, and a free-item table. Women happily created cards for loved ones and mosaics to take home. They were pampered with an array of color and a gentle touch as they received a personal manicure.
“This is awesome!” a woman said as she moved from one station to another.
River of Life women directed, mingled, visited, and loved the women who were in attendance. All enjoyed the kindness and creative opportunities.
One lady summed the day up, saying, “Everyone has been so nice!”
The event ended with prize drawings. Everyone was given a backpack filled with essentials and some fun items to continue to be cared for and encouraged.
“This has been a good day,” a woman said in parting.
The truth was spoken. Sometimes you may feel like shattered glass. But the Word of God tells you, God created you. God sees you. He sees you not as broken and shattered, but as beautiful and useful! We can trust our God. 
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
